Chuck Gerry is the Founder and President of Modern Grid Partners. He is responsible for the firm’s business development and delivery of solutions and services across a portfolio of utility customers. Chuck has decades of experience with utility network communications and associated infrastructure build-outs, having overseen the design and deployment of electric and telecommunication systems for several North American utilities. It is this intimate knowledge that empowers the Modern Grid Partners’ team with both the vision and execution know-how to deliver client grid visions.
Chuck is a champion of MGP’s support for local charities. He also donates his time and expertise to various nonprofits.
Prior to Modern Grid Partners, Chuck was the Director of Grid Modernization at Woodard & Curran, an 850-person engineering firm supporting gas, water and electric utilities nation-wide. Previous to that, as the Director of Utilities at Tilson, Chuck played a key role in placing Tilson in the top 1500 of the Fastest Growing Companies by Inc., two years in a row.
Laney Brown is the Vice President of Smart Grid at Modern Grid Partners, and is responsible for the firm’s delivery oversight and value execution across a portfolio of utility customers. With more than 18 years of global experience, she has overseen implementation, strategic investments, and regulatory oversight of smart grid-enabled products and services. Laney is recognized as a Top National Smart Grid Professional by IntelligentUtility Magazine and was recently selected as an Electricity Advisor Committee (EAC) member for U.S. Department of Energy. As an EAC member, Laney provides advice on energy policy and modernization of the U.S. grid.
Laney is a natural leader, driving business and technology transformation within multiple utilities. Her program management skills have kept customers on track for success, from scoping innovative smart grid solutions to meeting customer goals, to the practical oversight of selecting smart grid products and process change management for utility operations. Laney is a true believer in doing a great job whilst having a good time.
Prior to Modern Grid Partners, Laney was responsible for the delivery of a Central Maine Power’s $164M Smart Meter program as well as Iberdrola USA’s Future Utility Strategy including the concept development of its innovative demonstration projects.
Tom Woods is the Vice President of Operations at Modern Grid Partners. Tom is responsible for the direct management of delivery teams and professional consultants at utility customers. He has over 30 years of expertise in implementing new technologies, managing diverse teams, and supporting utilities across North America reach success with their strategic projects. He easily communicates throughout the customer's organization, engaging the project teams and discussing high level strategy and program management with executives.
Tom has extensive management experience in all aspects of company operations with a proven track record of success resulting in bottom-line results.
Prior to Modern Grid Partners, Tom was the Program Manager for Grid Modernization at Woodard & Curran and before that the Senior Consultant of Wireless Network Deployment at Tilson. Tom’s professional demeanor and recognized track record of completing projects on-schedule and scope is attributed to his time spent with the United States Navy where he was an Electronic Warfare Technician.
Rachelle Cummings is part of the Modern Grid Partners Project Management office team with over 15 years of experience in management and sales. She provides project coordinating and documentation to a portfolio of emerging technology projects including systems, network, and operations. Rachelle supports MGP customers with discovery, business case and value definition, and general deployment management of utility-centric infrastructure, network build to advance metering and distribution automation projects.
Dr. Gary Fauth is a Senior Utility Consultant for Modern Grid Partners. Gary has decades of utility expertise associated with the design, refinement, and regulatory procedures of smart grid business case filings. Gary has deep financial modeling expertise that helps clients develop the business case for smart metering, business systems, renewable, and grid technology investments. He has extensive knowledge in meter-to-cash optimization and has supported utilities across the world with regulatory approvals associated with smart metering investments.
Prior to Modern Grid Partners, Gary was a Professional Executive Consultant supporting advanced metering deployments at both Iberdrola and Pacific Gas and Electric.
David Fay is an Enterprise Architect with decades of enterprise level and hands on technology experience. He has a broad background leading, planning, analyzing, and implementing technology projects in support of business objectives. David is also a Subject-Matter Expert (SME) in implementing and managing windows environments, database administration and development, and strategic planning. David leads all stages of infrastructure design efforts for Modern Grid Partners' customers, including requirements gathering, solution architecture, implementation, and support.
Dr. Melissa Chan has over 10 years' experience working on clean tech strategy for utilities, municipalities, and regulators. She advises smart grid, mircogrid, and energy of internet of things (EIoT) projects that increase system efficiency while offering more options for end-user energy management and renewable resource adoption. Her research and experience includes how existing communication networks can support smart buildings and smart city development, and helping clients understand the intersection of information technology and operational technology to enable more solutions for their customers.
Barbara Leary specializes in helping organizations navigate through complex change initiatives by communicating effectively and building strong relationships with their stakeholders. Her experience includes communications leadership positions with global Fortune 1000 companies and consulting firms. Most recently, Barbara was a Managing Director at FTI Consulting, a global business advisory firm, working with customers in the energy, life sciences, technology, manufacturing and hospitality sectors. Before that, she was a Senior Director of Marketing Communications for the Florida Power & Light Company, one of the largest electric utilities in the United States.
Jackie Lemmerhirt advises our clients in the selection and deployment of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and distribution automation technologies. She offers extensive utility industry knowledge and expertise, combined with a solid foundation of information systems. Jackie is accomplished in product strategy, product definition, strategic systems integrations, business analytics, and customer insights. She has a talent for energizing and aligning colleagues and partners across multiple disciplines, driving long-term business growth.
Danielle Ruby is part of the Modern Grid Partners' software quality assurance and quality control team. She provides software quality assurance support for utility and application software products including: test plan development, test case development, performance testing, functional testing, bug reporting, and defect tracking. Danielle translates best practices in software testing management and team oversight while creating the associated content; tests cases, regression tests, test suites, and test sets.
Zac Canders specializes in program management and in advanced technology implementations for smart grid and other utility applications. This includes leading design, development, configuration, implementation, and support of smart grid solutions and services. His experience encompasses onsite smart grid project management at utilities across the U.S., including many of the nations’ largest. Zac serves on the board of DistribuTECH, an annual energy convention, and recently chaired smart grid at the World Energy Engineering Congress. He contributes to the industry trade journals and initiatives. This includes leading the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and Department of Energy Sponsored Outage Data Initiative, which aims to share outage data programmatically.
Nancy Nadeau is part of the Modern Grid Partners customer service team. She provides internal communications and support while working closely with team members to help delivery of work products that achieve both customer expectation and vision.
